People Wanted!

We’re looking for people excited about serving and growing the church. Right now, we’re specifically looking for musicians to join our talented worship crew, and for those drawn to community outreach. If either of those callings interest you, or if you'd like to get involved in some other way, please do drop by Sunday 10am for service, a coffee and a chat. We’d love to meet you!

Friends and Fellowship

Every last Thursday of the month at 10.30am around 20 people gather for a spot of morning tea, conversation and to listen to a visiting speaker present something interesting. It's relaxed and informal. A wide variety of subjects are covered and anyone is welcome to join with the group.

Community Events

Orakei Baptist Church is actively engaged with the Orakei community, providing a number of services and events on an ongoing basis. If you’re interested in learning about what’s coming up, please drop in on Sunday for coffee and a chat and we’ll fill you in with the latest.

Neighbours Day

One of the Orakei community’s largest events is the annual Neighbour’s Day celebration, a collaborative effort from local churches, schools and community groups that brings together the local community for a day of fun, getting to know one another and live entertainment for all ages.

We’ve had the pleasure of hosting the event in the past and had a fantastic time of it. The day includes stage performances from local schools and churches, Orakei Marae and Drama Queens as well as various competitions, a bouncy castle, face painting, and a range of shops and stalls.

Neighbours Day is typically held on a Saturday at the end of March or beginning of April. For more details on when and where, contact details can be found by clicking here.

Prayer Breakfast, Prayer Meetings and Prayer Chain

At Orakei we believe in the power of prayer and are committed to praying for those who seek prayer.
A prayer breakfast is held at the church 8:30am on the first Sunday of each month. We also have regular prayer times as well as a well-supported prayer chain. Should you wish us to pray for you, simply call, email or send us your prayer request online by clicking here. (contact details at bottom of the page).

Join a Homegroup!

Study the Bible in a relaxed company of peers each Wednesday evening. More details in the church newsletter available at the door.

Christian Care Network

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…” Matthew 25:35

We collect non-perishable food donations for distribution amongst those in financial hardship. Volunteers from churches within the eastern suburbs deliver emergency food parcels twice weekly.
People from the areas of Orakei, Mission Bay and Kohimarama who are in need of a food parcel can call Christian Care Network on 09-521-5712.
